ryuuhou (kancolle)
Kantai Collection character. Ryuuhou is Taigei's new name after her conversion to a Light Aircraft Carrier.
You will need to read Taigei's wiki before reading this one as Ryuuhou's description is relative to Taigei's.
Appearance
As Ryuuhou, she wears a magenta haori with floral patterns on the sleeves and hem on top of her similarly recolored serafuku. As she became an Archer-type Aircraft Carrier, she now holds a yumi bow, wears muneate and yugake, a quiver full of plane-arrows and her flight deck is attached to her left arm. Unlike the others, her flight deck is actually a flexible piece of armour instead of the usual rigid piece of wood. The whale clip has moved to being on her hair on her left side and she now wears a hairband.
After remodeling, her clothes turn teal, her flight deck significantly increases in size and now features a camo design. The necklace is now absent, her tie has been tied differently (now like Yuudachi Kai2) and she gains a radar hairclip.
Ryuuhou Kai Ni
She obtained her second remodels with the 8th anniversary update and with it, came much improved stats and a new outfit. Unusually, she gets the Kai Ni E remodel before Kai Ni and not after. Either way, both outfits consists of an integral mix of her old serafuku and something similar to Zuihou's outfit: she keeps the skirt but the sailor collar is integrated to a tabard-like garment, which is overlaid over a kimono top with lace-attached sleeves and cross trim. She keeps the tie and the muneate but the yugake is replaced by fingerless gloves on both hands, the magatama necklace also became an earring. Her single knee armor is now a full-on greave and her pantyhose is open at the big toe area for some reason, exposing her right big toe and left big and index toes. Her flight deck is now a rigid type like the others.
Kai Ni E has her in camouflage colors, being in three different shades of green (top and collar middle panel is light, tabard is medium, collar, skirt and trim is dark). Her flight deck has a camouflage pattern (the same pattern as in Kai) and, as the "E" implies, is lit for night battle operations. Her whale has moved to her tabard, on the lower left corner.
Kai Ni has her back to her magenta color scheme with the skirt, collar and trimming being colored as such. The ribbon trim and lacing is now a deep red. Her whale is now absent and is replaced with a cherry blossom motif.
History
Her in-game pre-kai ni shortcomings (slow speed, low plane count, low armor value) represent the real-life shortcomings of Ryuuhou when she was converted from seaplane tender to light carrier. Despite receiving destroyer-grade propulsion machinery that was more reliable than her original diesel engines, they were unable to offset the added weight of the carrier conversion. In addition, her short flight deck prevented her from embarking no more than 36 aircraft even with a mid-war lengthening refit.
Historically the only warship damaged by the Doolittle Raid launched from Hornet, she was commissioned late in 1942. Due to the aforementioned design flaws, she was primarily used as an aircraft transport and a training carrier, only seeing combat once in the battle of the Philippine Sea. Returning to Japan in early 1945, she suffered damage from Allied air raids but survived the war.
