sig sauer p226
A semi-automatic pistol manufactured by SIG Sauer AG, it can be made to chamber either 9mm rounds, .40 S&W caliber bullets for certain US users and the .357 SIG caliber ammunition. It is currently the sidearm of choice for the US Navy SEALs and also Britain's SAS, along with many major police departments across the world.
This particular pistol has a decocker switch which when flipped, the hammer is decocked even when there is a bullet in the chamber, making the weapon "drop safe" which means the gun will not discharge a bullet so easily when it is dropped. Some agencies use a DAK model which removes the decocker switch.
Notable users of it and it's sub-variants include the US Federal Air Marshals which use the .357 SIG model of the P229, a compact derivative of the P226. Certain police departments in the US use the .40 S&W model and the Ontario Provincial Police use the .40 S&W P228 as this type of ammunition has better stopping power than the 9mm bullet, but is more compact compared to the .45 caliber round.
